This summer, Central Park Arts is excited to announce our Lion King Summer Camp from August 5th-11th! Kids will have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the world of theater as they learn everything from set design and choreography to blocking and stage makeup. This intensive camp will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience as they work together to fully stage the iconic show in just 7 days. At the end of the camp, students will have the chance to showcase their hard work and talent in a fully staged performance of The Lion King. This unique experience will not only be a fun and educational opportunity for kids to learn about theater, but it will also help them to find themselves and build confidence as they step into the spotlight. AUDITIONS AT CPA:
At Central Park Arts our audition process is different! Every student who enrolls will be cast. At Central Park Arts we hold auditions a few weeks before class, to ensure that the kids are familiar with the material prior, and that on the first day of rehearsal, we are free to delve right in. Our auditions are stress-free, and used as a tool to help our directors tell where your child will be most comfortable.
For this production auditions will be held on July 12th From 1-3 and it is recommended that parents do not attend with their child. Please arrive 15 minutes prior to fill out audition forms! 🙂
What to expect: We will begin with some easy warm-ups to loosen everyone up! Next, we will split everyone into groups and give them a random theme to create 5-minute improv scene as a team. During these improv auditions, we are looking for projection, facial expressions, and movement! After our improv auditions, it’s time to dance! Everyone will learn the same simple dance and perform it as a group! Finally, kids will be called separately to sing a 30-second selection of either: “I just can’t wait to be king!” Or “Can You feel the love tonight?”. Which one they would like to sing is up to them! Our auditions also act as an orientation/Cast party & meet! It will be so much fun and we can’t to get started!

SCHEDULE:
Rehearsal will take place daily at our studio from August 5th-11th. Monday through Friday rehearsal will begin promptly at 9:30 am, concluding at 2:30. We will take a break daily for lunch so students should be sure to bring lunch and a water bottle. Snacks will be provided!!
IMPORTANT DATES:
August 5th-9th: REHEARSAL FROM 9:30-2:30
August 10th: NO REHEARSAL
August 11th: PERFORMANCE DAY
Students should arrive for dress rehearsal at 12:00 PM. The show will begin promptly at 2:30.
