Founded by Nick Kargel in 2007, YWW steadily grows in reach and reputation in the production community. YWW plans to expand its foothold in modular rentals for corporate production into a national presence.

Job Description
The Shop Foreman reports to and works closely with the Owner / President to manage all fabrication operations, performing hands-on shop work as well as supervising other craftspeople and crew. The Shop Foreman works alongside the Operations Manager to oversee all day-to-day operations. This is a broad-scope position requiring excellent skills in prioritization and judgment.

The overall success of the Shop Foreman will be determined by their ability to produce quality fabrications within the constraints of time and budget.

Duties include (but are not limited to):

Fabrication: Build and lead others in building YWW modular rental sets, custom stage sets and staging, brand activations and displays, and whatever else we’re called upon to produce. Read and interpret drafting, drawings, sketches, etc. Fabrication includes but is not limited to: wood, steel, aluminum, fabric, plastics, paint, electrics, mechanics, automation.
Project Management: Generate estimates for build projects, collaborate on construction methods, work with Operations Manager to manage project schedules, tasks, materials and problem solving. Direct shop staff in daily operations. Guide projects regarding budget goals (minimizing costs) while achieving client satisfaction, track and report project progress. Ensure safety and quality of product.
Rentals: Work with Operations Manager to pull, pack and ship rental projects. Inspect, maintain, customize and fabricate rental inventory.
Procurement: Maintain stock materials, determine and procure project materials.
Shop Management: Maintain and manage YWW shop and resources. Repair tools and equipment. Develop and implement plans to improve facilities for greater efficiency.
Installation: Lead onsite crews, perform installations and strikes.
Safety: Ensure all work in shop meets best practices of workplace safety. Train and enforce safety practices.
Drafting: As needed, assist in creating shop drawings to interpret and communicate designs and construction methods. On larger projects, supervise other drafters. Experience in Vectorworks or other drafting methods is a plus but not required.
Fleet: Perform / supervise basic maintenance on YWW vehicles.

This is a full-time, hourly non-exempt position with paid time off benefits. Typical work weeks are 40 hours, M-F with some evenings and weekends and occasional travel required. Starting pay range $25 – $35/hr.

  • Works in and moves about a warehouse / fabrication shop which may be noisy, cluttered, dusty or have uneven flooring surfaces for duration of shift
  • Works safely with mounted and hand-held tools for duration of shift
  • Manipulates materials on tables, at floor level, overhead and in confined spaces
  • Occasionally works at height via ladders, scaffolding, personnel lifts
  • Regularly moves objects weighing 50 lbs, and occasionally up to 100 lbs
  • Communicates with others in-person and remotely through speech, writing and drawing
  • Occasionally works in outdoor weather conditions
