Visionbox Studio Casting Call…urgent!

Visionbox Studio now in the second half of its 12th season has some major new developments. In addition to our ongoing classes, we have some production work happening this summer and we need some new actors.

Production 1

American Addict: a Devised Piece

This is a devised piece in development that had its first performance in February at the DCPA. The script is being developed by interviewing addicts in recovery, recovery professionals, and family members. This piece is a culmination of more than 13 years of work at Visionbox. Any actors in the piece will have the opportunity to be in the documentary film about the making of the project. Actors of all ages, levels and backgrounds are encouraged to audition.

Production 2

All the World: Festival of Solo Shakespeare projects

For many years Visionbox has been part of the Cultural Partnership program at McNichols and has run summer training and production work at McNichols. This summer we will be involved with reactivating the Greek Theatre in the park and hope to create a summer training and production company now and for many years to come. Solo Shakespeare projects were first introduced in Denver at the National Theatre Conservatory by Tony Church of the RSC. Each actor selects one character from a Shakespeare play and creates a 15-20 minute piece telling the story using a minimum of 50% Shakespeare text and 50% original work, other writing, etc. These projects have been part of Visionbox New Works since our founding and we will be performing this festival in the Greek Theatre this summer. Live music, and projection design will be part of the production and the ensemble of actors selected will act not only in their own piece but also play roles in other actor’s adaptations.  Anyone interested in performing in this production will also be encouraged to attend a 5-week developmental class March 20th-April 20th.
