Job Description:

Theatre Aspen is seeking a Costume Designer for our Fall Education production of The Drowsy Chaperone.

Designer responsibilities include…

To provide a costume plot and sketches or representations necessary for execution of costumes and to design, select or approve all accessories.
To design, select or coordinate all costumes, including selections from the performer’s personal wardrobe when necessary.
Select appropriate costumes from stock, rental/purchase or other resources and coordinate their adaptation for the Production(s).
To oversee the fittings and attend appropriate rehearsals (measurements can be taken by a local assistant)
To approve hairstyles and/or select wigs, hairpieces, mustaches, beards, prosthetics and special make-up.
To assist in striking, laundering, & restocking costumes as necessary in coordination with Education & Production staff.
Attend Production meetings as scheduled – meetings will be held virtually prior to arrival in Aspen.

Venue: The Black Box Theatre at Aspen High School

Schedule:

PULL & FITTINGS:

Visit to Aspen for 2-3 days earlier in the rehearsal process to pull costumes from stock & conduct fittings, schedule as agreed upon with Director

TECH & PERFORMANCES:

Arrival Wednesday November 2nd by 3:30pm

Departure morning of Friday November 11th

 

Designers must be able to commute up to Aspen. Travel mileage will be reimbursed and time compensated for as part of the total designer fee. It is recommended that designers travel by car to Aspen, it will ease the trip and provide more effective transportation between housing and the theatre.

Designer will have free time during the day outside of rehearsal/work hours. Rehearsals are held after school in the afternoon/evening hours.

 

Job Type & Compensation:

Part-time, Temporary, Contract

$1,250 Designer Fee

Mileage reimbursement at $0.58/mile for travel

Additional travel time stipend TBD by length and style of commute

Housing will be provided by Theatre Aspen.

Candidates are required to be vaccinated against COVID-19
