Auditions for Shark Box Theatre’s production of Fools, By Neil simon

Show Synopsis:

Fools by Neil Simon is a fast-paced comedy set in a tiny village where a generations-old curse has left everyone hilariously foolish. When an idealistic young teacher arrives to educate his pupil and break the curse, he finds himself caught in a whirlwind of ridiculous misunderstandings, witty dialogue, and outrageous characters. Packed with clever humor and nonstop laughs, it’s a classic Neil Simon comedy.

Please come to auditions with the following prepared:

A list of all of your known rehearsal/show conflicts, and a 30-60 second monologue that showcases your comedic timing & physical comedy. You will additionally be asked to perform a cold read previously chosen by the audition board. Note that while the show is set in Ukraine, we will not be doing Ukrainian accents for this production. So please use whatever your regular accent may be. Casting will be determined by the night of Sunday July 26, or by noon the following day.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THE TURNAROUND BETWEEN AUDITIONS AND THE START OF REHEARSALS IS VERY QUICK. PLEASE DO NOT SIGN UP FOR AUDITIONS IF YOU ARE NOT WILLING TO ACCEPT A ROLE THE SAME DAY, OR IF YOU WOULD “PREFER TO WAIT FOR A BETTER ROLE IN A DIFFERENT SHOW.”

Audition Location: North Ridge Rec Center (8800 S Broadway, Highlands Ranch, CO, 80126), in the Elbert Conference Room.

Show Location: The StageDoor Theatre, Conifer, CO (Note that Auditions are in a different Location)

Show Dates: October 2, 3, 9, 10, 16, 17 2026 (Friday and Saturday nights, with an additional matinee the first 2 Saturdays)

Rehearsal times: The first rehearsal will be Tuesday July 28, 2026. Then rehearsals will follow the cadence of Monday & Thursday generally 6-8:30PM.
