Trail Trainer

You have a passion for building confidence in others on the trails. You’ve been told your voice is booming – you couldn’t be mistaken within a crowd or out on a trail ride. You want to instill the desire “to create ‘breakthrough, happy dancing, high-fiving, “I did it!” moments’ with children” to our next generation of instructors. You understand that it’s important to take the time to prepare for a training session – in delivery, materials, and set-up. You can read the room and you’re comfortable with giving feedback to others. Does this sound like you? Great!

We are seeking Trail Trainers (Lead & Regular) to run our New Trail Instructor Training sessions. You’ll be provided with the training and materials you need to succeed. You will have up to 6 Instructors assigned, who will leave feeling comfortable and confident about our well-developed instructing methods! Training sessions occur mostly on weekends, and some select weeknights through May, June, & July. Training Session Rate: Lead Trail Trainer $125 & Regular Trail Trainer $100 (half days or evenings)

Your Responsibilities:

Delivering content of the New Trail Instructor Training
Understanding the contents of the Trainer Guide & delivering the training with enthusiasm
Showcasing what the ultimate Pedalheads Trail Instructor looks like
Set-up for training sessions (minimal for Trail)
Picking up equipment, for sessions, if required (Lead Trainers)
Using problem-solving skills to address any issues or concerns that may arise in a responsible and effective way
Building rapport and providing specific feedback to Trainers while coaching them along the way (Lead Trainers)
Submitting training session attendance and Instructor ratings from Trail Trainers online (Lead Trainers)
Providing positive feedback and encouragement to new Instructors and celebrate their achievements
Creating an environment that is both professional and fun for the Trainers and Instructors by encouraging participation and engagement
Skills, Knowledge and Experience

We believe that a great team is built on a collection of diverse skills, knowledge and experiences and we consider all of this when we review your application:

Minimum of 1 year of experience working at a Pedalheads Bike or Trail camp
Must have a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel to Pedalheads locations across the region (Lead Trail Trainer, asset for Regular Trainer)
Have a working bike and helmet that can be transported to training sessions
Comfortable riding on basic trails

Must obtain current Standard First Aid and CPR certification
Experience presenting training materials with strong facilitation skills with ability to engage and motivate audiences
Comfortable using technology for minimal administrative tasks
Ability to lead with confidence and by example, working closely with others to create a fun and inclusive experience
Experience as a mentor for others with a welcoming attitude and strong communication skills
