Part-time: 20-25 Hours/Week

Position Status: Regular, Part-Time (20-25 Hours/Week)

Wage: Hourly, $25 per hour

Reporting to: Artistic Director, Jada Suzanne Dixon

Position Purpose:

The Education Associate is responsible for planning, oversight, coordination, and execution of all education-related activities and needs for the company. This role is responsible for designing, coordinating, and facilitating all educational programming on behalf of the Curious Theatre Company. This includes creating educational experiences for students and learners of all ages.  The goal is to enhance and expand the reach of the Curious Theatre Company.

The Education Associate will focus on three foundational pillars:

Elevating Curious Theatre Company’s mission and commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Accessibility, Access + Belonging
Building and strengthening partnerships and/or collaborations within the education community, and
Creating and implementing relevant, sustainable programming for community members of all ages.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

Work with the Artistic Director to:

●      Maintain and grow existing Let’s Get Curious educational programming

  • Create, develop, and implement educational programming

■      Develop curriculum and leverage Educational Theatre techniques for innovative educational experiences

●      Cultivate and sustain partnerships and/or collaborations within the education community to support the organization’s educational initiatives

●      Support grant writing and fundraising efforts as required

  • grant writing/reporting
  • data gathering via surveys, photos, time logs, activity logs, etc.

●      Collaborate with the Artistic Director and other staff members to identify and pursue opportunities that align with Curious Theatre Company’s mission and vision

●      Attend staff meetings, artistic team meetings,  and events as required

●      Coordinate and lead post-show conversations scheduled for Teen Nights for each production

●      Manage and update the Education Database to ensure accurate and current information

●      Support the hiring process for teaching artists needed for educational and outreach programs, providing oversight and assistance as required

●      Maintain and update Educational content for website in collaboration with the marketing and development team

  • Accurate content
  • Educational materials that promote educational opportunities and programs

●      Maintain clear communication with all staff members and provide ongoing updates as needed

●      Engage in Curious Theatre’s Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, Access, and Belonging (EDIA+B) initiatives, focusing on antiracist practice, accessibility, and other areas to promote a more just and equitable organization.
Ideal candidates will have many, if not all, of the following characteristics:

●      A skilled collaborator and leader in diverse environments, adept at maintaining  programs effectively in various circumstances

●      A talented and experienced educator who adeptly adapts to the age, interests, and ability levels of students

●      A generator and facilitator of inclusive environments, skilled at creating space for and effectively interacting with individuals from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, and political backgrounds. Demonstrates a rigorous interest in questioning the cultural status quo and engaging in solution-oriented systems thinking

●      Comfortable with public speaking and representing Curious Theatre Company at community events and gatherings

●      Proficient in word processing and spreadsheet software, with basic Customer Relationship Management (CRM) skills and proficiency in data management

●      Demonstrates flexibility, resourcefulness, and creative problem-solving skills

●      Strongly encouraged: a great sense of humor and a strong desire to contribute to a healthy, inclusive work environment

Qualifications and Experience:

●      Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience of at least four years’ work in theatre, theatre education and/or community engagement
