Theater and Choir Teacher – Basalt Middle School

Website Basalt Middle School

Safety Standards: n/a

Basalt Middle School is hugely excited to build a theater and choir program for students in grades 5 through 8. While Basalt Middle and High Schools currently have a thriving Band program with over 300 participating students in grades 5-12, we firmly believe that a well-rounded arts education includes instrumental, vocal, and theatrical experiences.

There is already a well-funded Choir/Theater Booster organization in place, as well as an active Band Booster organization, and the Basalt community is extremely supportive of the arts. It’s truly a fabulous community in which to teach. The school community is very engaged with both fall and spring productions and are anxious to add additional theater opportunities for students.

The town of Basalt, Colorado, just outside Aspen, is a historic and vibrant mountain community located in the heart of the Roaring Fork Valley at the confluence of the Frying Pan and Roaring Fork Rivers. The natural beauty of the area provides a wealth of recreational activities, including world-class skiing, fishing, golfing, biking, hiking, and camping.

This is an ideal position for someone who loves both choir and theater (specifically musical theater), wants to be part of a dynamic performing arts team, is fun and engaging at the helm of a classroom, relishes the challenge and excitement of building a program at the middle school level and continuing that program’s growth into high school, and seeks an active, outdoor lifestyle with great work/life balance.
