RISE Performing Arts presents a virtual, live-streamed performance of The Laramie Project November 12th – 14th, 2020. The show features students from both STRIVE Prep RISE High School and KIPP Northeast Denver Leadership Academy. The Laramie Project is an award-winning play that tells the story of the murder of Matthew Shepard, a gay student at the University of Wyoming, from the perspective of the people who were there, the people of Laramie. The Tectonic Theatre Company spent a year and a half, on 6 different trips, traveling to Laramie and conducting interviews to get a true account from the community. It is an examination of what fear can do to a person and community, but it is also a story of hope and how a community bands together in the face of tragedy.
