Theater Company of Lafayette Presents

EDMONDS STORIES

A Colorado Premiere

Directed by Madge Montgomery

Edmonds Story, by Nora Douglass, ignites the stage with a captivating portrayal of The Medin family’s pursuit of the American Dream. This bittersweet journey takes us through the triumphs and setbacks of an immigrant family as they grapple with profound sacrifices made in the name of assimilation. Set in 1900 in a town near Seattle, EDMONDS STORIES explores ambition, heritage, and the indomitable spirit that fuels us all.

Edmonds Stories is by longtime TCL collaborator, Nora Douglass. In addition to SHORN, many of her short plays have appeared in several of our new play festivals.

While there are many serious moments in this saga about the hardships of immigration, there are also comic moments, such as fractured English lessons and a food fight when Pappa joins in to help the girls make supper. The characters in Edmonds Stories are vibrant and individual and often as funny as any American family. This play promises to bring to light the immigrant experience, show the resilience that is within us all, and highlight the extraordinary power of finding home.
