Artful Reflections

May 10 @ 6:30 pm

Artful Reflections is Athena Project’s latest program, designed to uplift women artists. Because the pandemic led to isolation and disconnection, we offer this opportunity to connect artists with each other and their communities.

This monthly event, open to artists and non-artists, invites reflection about the artwork. The participants’ experience of the art and the moderated conversations that follow strengthen connection and community. Taking place at a gallery (owned or curated by women* artists), participants have the opportunity to let the art in as a way to increase understanding of themselves and others. Featured women artists are invited to listen to the impact of their art.

Join us for our next iteration of this program, on May 10th from 6:30 – 8: 30 pm, at Walker Fine Art Gallery at 300 West 11th Avenue, #A in Denver, with art curated by Bobbi Walker

While this event is open to the public, space is limited so a reservation is required to attend.

About Athena Project: Athena Project empowers women* through the arts by providing women artists with paid work opportunities while also ensuring audiences get to see and hear them. We change the world, one paid woman artist at a time. Our programs evolve as the political and social landscape changes.
At present, they include: Read & Rant: A Plays in Progress Series, a book club that serves the needs of new playwrights, providing them with readers and dramaturgical support while providing community members with opportunities to support new work. Curating Art for Impact, a collaboration with or on behalf of community partners, providing unique experiential art such as pop-up performances which elevates and amplifies their missions. Artful Reflections, a forum which connects artists with their audiences and fellow artists with a facilitated discussion about the emotional impact of the art through the lens of the attendants’ world views and identities. Girls Create, summer intensive week-long camps which explore art forms like playwriting, fashion design and stand up comedy, culminating in final performances shared with friends, family, and the public. This program empowers girls to lead and affect change in themselves and others through creative learning.
*At Athena Project, we believe that “women” means many things and can be a complicated term. We recognize that the term “women” does not automatically include all aspects of the gender spectrum. We want to create a safer space for the expression and growth for all women, non-binary, and LGBTQIA+ individuals.
