Colorado Christian College

The theatre major (with emphases in drama ministry, or performance/technical theatre), provides academic, technical, and performance experiences preparing students for theatre production in church settings, community theatres, and graduate or conservatory education. Their academic understanding of theatre history, play analysis, and dramatic literature will aid graduates to work in theatre or other fields with artistic integrity.

Colorado College
The Department of Drama and Dance at Colorado College bases its daily routine and existence upon certain unspoken tenets.  Most of all, we stress the importance of the original, unique, creative endeavor for the student as a means for self-understanding, self-critique, and progressive education and pedagogy. We do not wish to become a performance conservatory striving for ‘product perfection,’ but rather wish to stress the educational process of drama and dance, and its innate benefits of discipline, ensemble, discovery, and revelation….We have come to feel that the educational processes of drama and dance—the day-in and day-out study, the literary and historical contextualization, the personal sacrifice, the grappling with important issues—are most rewarding to students and faculty.

Naropa University

The intention of the Theater Studies concentration is to investigate the nature of being a human being, not as a philosophical or psychological exercise, but directly and experientially, moment by moment. Acting reawakens the human capacity to play and to explore perspectives and ideas outside the limitations of one's habitual worldview.

Students are encouraged to seek within themselves and their experience for the images and ideas they wish to communicate to an audience. This is so whether the material is taken from classical theater or from one's own imagination. The Theater Studies concentration is non competitive. It holds the view that each person has a unique talent for living, learning and performing in service to others. It is in this spirit that students and teachers together explore a contemplative acting training of body, speech and mind.
